You are invited to join Congressman Gutierrez and Familia Latina Unida in a special meeting of the American Children and Families Campaign. Congressman Gutierrez will explain what it is we need to do for President Obama to grant Parole in Place for the undocumented parents of U.S. Children and the Dream Act eligible and their families. We will be collected information from those interested in the Humanitarian Visa (Parole in Place) after the program. All information will be confidential and held in the office of Congressman Luis Gutierrez.
PRESIDENT OBAMA’S BROKEN PROMISES
Already President Obama has deported over a million people more than any other President in the history of this country. He promised to stop the deportation and implement immigration reform and when he had the votes and power he did not use it. He promised only those with serious criminal records would be sought out and deported, but 70% of the million deported had no criminal record. Many of the people deported had U.S. citizen children and spouse. He promised the students the Dream Act and failed. Now he is declaring nothing can be done because he doesn’t have the votes to pass immigration reform.
WHAT IS PAROLE IN PLACE:
Parole in Place is a humanitarian visa that exists under the current immigration law. With this visa you are able to stay here in this country legally, obtain a workers permit, with which you can obtain a social security number and drivers license. You may leave the country and return. You must report to the immigration office periodically, and if you have no record of crime, eventually can be granted legal permanent residency.
WE JOIN CONGRESSMAN GUTIERREZ AND THE CONGRESSIONAL HISPANIC CAUCUS IN DEMANDING: That President Obama make available the Humanitarian Visa (Parole in Place) for the undocumented parents of U.S. citizen children, the Dreamers and their families, and those working and contributing to the economy of this country immediately. Obama has the power to grant Parole in Place and has done so for thousands of people in the Marian Islands and around the country. Now it’s our turn.
